In a powerful feature on Empowered, hosted by Meg Ryan, and recently aired on CNBC, MRK Partners shares their mission to break the stigma around affordable housing and set a new benchmark for excellence in the field.
“Our focus for 2025 and beyond is all about changing this narrative around affordable housing,” said Chief Operating Officer Cathy Coler. “It’s all about shattering the stereotypes and showing that affordable housing can benefit all.”
As a women-founded and led company, MRK Partners is constantly looking to the future and exploring new ways to innovate in the world of real estate development. With affordable housing projects and residences throughout California, Florida, Michigan, Missouri, and the Washington, D.C. metro area, MRK is building pathways for individuals and families to thrive and reach their highest potential.
“So what’s interesting about affordable housing is we talked about it from an affordable standpoint,” commented Chief Revenue Officer Meredith Esarey. “It’s not saying, ‘How much rent can someone afford and pay in their communities?’ But really, affordable housing is about what is offered in that community. Are there strong school systems associated with the housing in that community? Are there jobs available? Is there public transportation? We’re not trying just to solve the affordable housing problem or issue. It’s saying, ‘How do you make a thriving community?’ Affordable housing is a big piece of that. The country has to look at it in a bigger way than just, ‘Does rent match our income?’”
MRK Partners isn’t just developing properties, they’re building communities with purpose. By fostering connection and creating opportunities for residents, the company is setting a new standard in the affordable housing space. With over a decade of impact behind them, the team is continuing to grow, evolve and expand their mission.
“What really excites me is seeing our residents be empowered,” said Founder and President Sydne Garchik. “Giving out a scholarship for a single mom to go to cosmetology school and better her life and the life for her family is beyond exciting for me. Handing out a backpack at the backpack drive so that a school aged child can go to school with a brand new backpack and all new school supplies.”
